We want to prevent cavities for your child. It’s important to know that cavities are a transmissible disease.
Every baby gets the bacteria which make cavities from their care giver.
In that regard, the first 2 years of your baby’s life are very important. Any caregiver who has cavities or has had cavities in the past is advised not to taste the baby’s food before using the same utensils before feeding the baby. This will pass the bacteria that causes cavities to the baby.
If we can avoid the bacteria from being transferred through the saliva to the baby for the first 2 years of the baby’s life, we can significantly decrease the chance of the baby getting cavities.
Additionally, proper oral hygiene and avoiding babies’ bottle syndrome are also important.
